Dashboard Component Bin Packing Algorithm

I know this is already being developed, but I was hoping to push it up the priority list and also add a suggestion. The Dashboard is a great component, which I have come to heavily rely on, so...
Would it be possible for the bin packing algorithm in the dashboard to be an optional property?
This would give the user greater control until the algorithm is optimised. Also, it could be useful to have widgets overlap in certain circumstances.

As Matthew Ayre noted, as of 8.1.4 (final coming soon) there's an option on the dashboard component to disable the packing algorithm entirely.

This has now been released in 8.1.4

Agreed, I've added the dashboard to a couple of projects now. When I demo it to the customer they're so excited about it until they have to configure a dashboard themselves. Each time, they've asked me to remove it within a week or two due to their frustration with getting a layout they like.
The thinking being if the project champion (on the customer side) has trouble, the numerous end users will definitely take issue with it.
I've tried limiting it to larger widgets so there's less chance of the algorithm trying to force changes with no real improvement.
So much time and energy, so little gain.
This component would be one of my favs if I could just use it.

@gratliffindustrialnetworkingcom: I've found the only workaround at this time is to expose the position properties of the Widget in a view and advise the end user that they should avoid the click and drag method. However, I often forget this rule and I'm the one that implemented it!
It seems that using the position properties bypasses the bin packing algorithm giving the desired effect. Still not an ideal solution, but it's the best I've found so far.
