Rotate Labels better

When I change the text direction of a label by 90 degrees, the size of the label is messed up. I have to make the label wide enough to fit the text even though it is the height which should matter. If we can't have standard "angle" property to rotate text, could we at least have proper text direction coordination with size metrics?

Not sure if people still having this issue, but here was my solution

This is a long-standing issue, and due to backwards compatibility it'll be hard to change. Our best bet at this point would be to simply introduce a "Vertical Label" component.

Carl Gould: I would really much appreciate such new label. Why not go all the way and make it a "rotating label" with a regular angle property. Today I made a valve-template including a label for showing the name. I implemented rotation of the valve itself, but was not able to make the label follow. This was a supprise for me and my customer :-/

Johannes Bø: were you able to solve the label rotation problem? And how did you manage to color the line that indicates the valve tube? Thanks for your attemption.

andreia chiurato: HI, sorry did not see you comment before today.
- I did not solve the rotation problem.
- We are using dynamic color on valve tubes a lot. Typically we use lines with custom properties of valve udt-type. this way we just drag and drop valve-instances onto the line property-bindings. Pretty time-efficient workflow.
