Although we have connected Ignition to redundant Emerson PLC's using their built in OPC UA servers, Ignition does not offer Non-Transparent Redundancy. Ignition will switch to the backup controller if communications to the primary are lost, but it will not switch back unless communications to the secondary are lost. The Emerson OPC UA servers provide all the information necessary for the client to select the best connection but Ignition does not provide the ability to make the selection. Ignition would be perfect if it allowed switching between the primary and secondary endpoints via scripting.
