It would sometimes be nice to be able to persist user preferences past the duration of the current session. For example, the user's preferred theme, so they don't have to select it each time they log in. Probably just key-value pairs linked to a user identity. Maybe even auto-populated into a user.prefs custom session property when the session is created.

I can do this myself with a database table or two, but it would be nice to have it built in.
