I completed the Ignition 8.3 credential and then built a three-phase SCADA project on real hardware, and the gap between those two experiences is what prompted this. The videos gave me the vocabulary and the map of the platform, which was genuinely valuable. But what actually made me competent was building something where mistakes had consequences: tags silently truncating because I set an Integer instead of a Float, a binding that wouldn't write until I ticked Bidirectional, a Named Query failing because of a trailing semicolon. I only understood those properly because I hit them and had to fix them. The suggestion is to attach a small, optional, hands-on exercise to the end of each section, with a defined outcome the learner can verify themselves. Not a quiz on what was in the video, but a short task in their own Designer: build this view, bind this tag, make this query return the right value. The Ignition Design Challenge already does something like this at project scale, and it works well. Something similar at section scale, immediately after each topic, would close the gap between recognising a concept and being able to use it.
